©Barry Sandland/TIMB – A bike fair in Brussels will host a range of cycling events.
Mobility Week is almost here in Brussels and there is a flood of activity to make it worthwhile to be on a bike.

“There are always decisions to make when you look for a folding bike. I wanted something a little stiffer, like mountain bike and the X-type riding. It is a faster bike. If I had my way, I would have the handlebars lower so you have a more aggressive, racing position. But I have already changed the crankset for something stiffer, harder to ride. I do not want an electric bike. I like to pedal the bike.”
©Barry Sandland/TIMB – Tandem and their farewell party at Jean-Felix Hap Park
It is all over for Tandem… until a new location is found. The five week long pop-up bicycle café had its closure last night, with a steady gathering of friends and clients. At any time over the past four hours, there were over 100 people there. A steady trickle of riders Continue reading

Tandem Cafe closes on September 1: “I have not been a bike mechanic for that long. Just about three years now. Before that, I was working with wood, was a plumber and a sculptor. So working with my hands was natural. So working with my hands fixing bikes was just Continue reading

The Kring ride went out today. Well, they go out every Sunday. But this is a motley crew, if there ever was one. This ride is shepherded by PedalBXL. A bit quicker than touring rides. This one taps 28kmph and a Continue reading
Barry Sandland/TIMB – The latest, if only temporary, bicycle cafe in Brussels. Tandem, in Etterbeek.
This is Tandem, a pop-up bike cafe in Brussels. Brilliant idea. In Etterbeek at the Jean Felix Hap garden and it makes a brilliant stop. I struggled to find it, but the park has metal double door opening on Chausee de Wavre, opposite Rue de la Confiance.
Now the bad news. It is a pop-up and will only be there for 13 more days.
