Barry Sandland/TIMB – The latest, if only temporary, bicycle cafe in Brussels. Tandem, in Etterbeek.
This is Tandem, a pop-up bike cafe in Brussels. Brilliant idea. In Etterbeek at the Jean Felix Hap garden and it makes a brilliant stop. I struggled to find it, but the park has metal double door opening on Chausee de Wavre, opposite Rue de la Confiance.
Now the bad news. It is a pop-up and will only be there for 13 more days.
©Barry Sandland/TIMB – The café has a fully functioning mechanics section if you need to watch repairs.
The cafe is a stunner. All designed to be temporary (see the counter for a temporary design). But the vaulted ceilings and open space makes it a stunner. And they have a near-complete mechanics station for repairs. You can sit and watch mechanics working their way along.
Added to this, they are regularly holding special events. From opportunities to test ride an Ahooga! bike to gatherings for cargo bike riders, (Aug 22); story time,( Aug 20). And they have a presentation from two cycling police officers (Aug 23) so people can get a better idea about the scope and role of cyclist police in the community. They have everything on their Facebook page (@tandemfietscafevelo).
