Just one day of the year, accept a little applause for being a cyclist

A springtime ritual – Applause For Cyclists. Around Brussels, at key travel spots for cyclists, cycling organisations set up applause corridors so the everyday cyclists, the anonymous daily commuters, get a round of applause as they slip by, cheering them along their path. They have a half dozen set up, but my favourite is at the Chausée du Gand intersection with the bicycle path.

The local school has come out year after year with the largest signs and the loudest voices. For those who missed it, set your calendar for next year, first day of Spring. For those who did enjoy it, see you next year.
