If you want to get cyclists on the road, their bicycles have to be road worthy.

GRACQ has started a campaign to develop cycling in Molenbeek, an area of Brussels that has a far smaller percentage of cyclists compared to other city areas. One of the events was a cycling tour through the commune to both get cyclists out and about as well as making cyclists more visible to the community residents.

GRACQ coordinated a small collection of mechanics to service the bikes and do the small repairs that might have stripped the locals from getting on their rides. It is that basic first step that is essential in making a campaign successful.

I could not stay for the rides. There were many projects over the weekend, from Cyclo sales and club rides. Regardless, now the effort starts to get more cyclists one the road and make the space a little safer for everyone.
