Every day, at the memorial site here in Brussels, you can see people coming on bicycles. As solo riders, with friend or friends, there is a constant presence of people with two wheels. After the hooligans presence over the weekend, the bicycle is simply non-threatening. If a person comes on a bike, you are almost certainly looking at a peaceful presence.
They ride in, take time to look at the memorial, spend a few thoughtful moments or more, perhaps take a photo and then ride on.
After the aggressive presence of the football hooligans who disrupted the environment, coming as an immediate dark presence to the area, I went back to the site and found cyclists again in the area. They bring a presence that reassures and calms instead of provokes.
Had there been 500 cyclists entering the area to see the memorial, it would have been a much photographed, much enjoyed presence.
