With the final days of COP21, I was at the massive Climate March in Ostende, Belgium, yesterday. Cyclists were naturals and This Is My Bike is going to break from the interviews to feature the Climate March and some of the participants, particularly bicyclists, over the coming week. Greenpeace gets the opening salvo.
This is a bicycle. Well, it has all the components. Boom box, solar panels and a DJ on the ladder.
The climate march was a reset of the Brussels march that had been cancelled by police after the terrorist events in Paris and the subsequent searches in Brussels. Over 10,000 people attended the event, but the count had to be hard given the unending stream of people being dispatched from the neighbouring train station who simply walked into the tail of the march. The unending flow.
Gratefully, the march was a huge success and a family event. And police did not descend to the levels experienced in Paris, recently.
