“I was here for a meeting of cycling friends. I came last night on the train and leave tomorrow. A long-standing project to meet with old friends. It is all about Cyclo Camping Internationale.”

Photographer’s notes: I have been so used to simply finding cyclists and having a chat. The Brussels military presence put a unique twist to the small series taken in the first days. Oddly, two of the three cyclists I met were from abroad and were either here temporarily for work, or were visiting for the day.

The first flush of military vehicles brought found hundreds of people in the city centre, determined to go on with their lives as before. There were hundreds of selfies being taken, people document ting the presence of personnel and vehicles on the streets.

This man, from France, arrived the night military were dispatched to the city centre. It was a unique opportunity to photograph the response in Belgium.
