Handmade for the bike, just because it is cold

©Barry Sandland/TIMB- Look at these and try not to be jealous the next time cold weather takes your fingertips when riding the bike.

“I made these myself just for when I ride the bike in the cold. Like today.”

Photographer’s notes: This reminds me that I have to find more winter cyclists this year. I would love to get to Minnesota , in the USA, where they are riding fat tires in the forest and disappearing into snow drifts. I miss the four seasons. It all became a blur when I was living in Africa. But even here in Belgium, it gets cold, but I rarely see anything I would call a snowfall. What falls, if it falls, disappears within a day. That is not snow. It is an inconvenience.

Then, I could remember the Northwest Territories riders who want to cycle 400 kilometres across a lake, once the trucks have stopped using their seasonal thoroughfare.

But, when I think about it, maybe I would be happy with a decent pair of mitts and a quick ride to the cafe for a hot coffee.
