“This is the Holy Shit Preacher. We travel around, telling people about the possibilities in recycling their own waste.”
Photographer’s notes: A human waste collector on two wheels. Well, a few more wheels than two. I stumbled across the “bike” at the Periferia festival in Vilvoorde that ran from September 24 to 27.
The toilet is on this bike car, transported around to festivals as best one can with a vehicle so heavy. But it advocates the principle of recycling, and the waste created individually. Human waste is slightly more problematic in composting, but the church advocates a charcoal with molasses fermentation combination in treatment with an anaerobic process that speeds up the process. Instead of two years, composting can be complete within a year.
We started last year with a festival and we were dealing with the human waste from the farm. There were two toilets there and people were usig them and we got about six cubic metres of compost at the end. The charcoal is a sponge effect and then molasses is the fermentation.
