“We were working together in the same IT company and he took a year long sabbatical, went to the Solvay Business School and, two days before he defended his end of term paper, he thought, ‘This is not what I want to do’, and he decided to go for a bike project. He came and said he wanted to do this and would I be with him. I said, ‘Yes’. He had a few sketches and then took classes on welding and then went to the UK to build his bike with the same people who worked on the Moulton. Designed in Brussels. First versions built in the UK alongside experts and artisans. And now we have signed with a Belgian company to produce it.”

Photographer’s notes: I love entrepreneurial stories. The idea that people throw everything into  an idea, a project, that is something substantial, tangible. The market for folding bikes is growing daily. In a recent EU discussion on mobility, a Dutch spokesperson detailed the only growth area in alternative transport in his country. The commuter using bike and train for their trips. This is the ideal folding bike market, and it is growing. And, as we are in Europe, the presence of two wheeled travellers is substantial, regardless.
