“In 2007 I went to Rome and I can tell you there is one city worse than Brussels in terms of holes in the road, and that is Rome.  It was in Rome the saddle broke the first time. But I found a traditional smith who said he could solve it for me and so he put this in between the two – but I do not think he had great structural knowledge.”

Photographer’s notes: With luck, the frame has had more luck with the repairs made in Belgium. At the time, the rider was heading to one of Eddy Merckx’s technicians to get a repair. I came across the rider a week ago, the repaired bike in use and another happy rider.
