A pursuit of an analogue vision

©Barry Sandland/TIMB – Photography used to be such a rare event .. and then came digital cameras and the overwhelming presence of cameras.

“I am an artist. I am here in Brussels for five days looking at art schools. I might transfer here from Switzerland.

“I was looking at this building and I like the unfinished way. I work with film and I changed to analogue. Today, photography is common. It is one of the reasons I am using film. It is different to shoot with.”

“But you have to wait and it is more expensive. I develop myself, but today I am using colour. And I scan the negatives and make them digital. It is nice, but contradictory to shoot in analogue and then scan and work in digital.”

“With film, I like the colour. It is easier to get good lenses. To get the same in digital today would cost a lot.”
