The all important energy saving fixie

“I thought, why not try a fixie and see how it looks. I like it. I have been riding a fixie for a year and a half, now. In Brussels, with all the hills, it is a little boring but, for me, it is kind of good. With one gear, you reach your top speed and then you do not need to go faster and faster. You have this nice smooth ride. Actually, I am saving my energy riding a fixie.”

Photographer’s notes: There are key foodie locations in Brussels and this one is the frites location in Place Jourdan in the background. Belgians take their fries seriously. Awards are given to these small venues for best fries of the year. The Jourdan location is famous. Queues reach out like octopus legs all through the summer, queueing for a taste.
