“For once, we are the attraction on the roads, not the cars.”
“No, there are no batteries in this model.”
Photographer’s notes: This bicycle taxi is part of the (Im)Possible Futures event in Ghent Brussels. One rider obliged to power a vehicle that can host two passengers. That means three people. Three.
Let me tell you, there was a look of worry when I pitched up. Two metres tall and at least 100 kilograms. I make up 1.5 normal people. Add one more passenger and you are looking at a self-inflicted hernia… And I had my camera bag, complete with laptop adding a few more kilos to the ride.
The car is owned by a bike shop that developed the design. They rent it out to special events and the like. Apparently it comes with the drivers.
The bike/car is an attraction. Cyclists on pathways give an appreciative smile, car drivers are patient, waiting for clear space to pass, or giving an opportunity at a crossing.
There is something specific about the bike-car and its rental, use in promotions, here…
