I saw this yesterday while out and about. A classroom of local school kids being taught the basics of getting around city streets on their bikes. Everybody dressed in their high visibility vests. Everybody, if they were like me, feeling the cold, wet weather.
But it was great to see them being taught to ride regardless of the weather. That bikes belong when it is inclement. That they are taught to not be afraid of a little bit of rain. It will come them in good stead in the future, when they start to understand the bike is to be used year round, not just on sunny days, not just on weekends.
And the course had them riding over the most personally despised territory … cobblestones.
